From 11 February 2016 to 22 May 2016, The Free Spain Cup was exhibited at the MuVIM as part of the catalogue of works included in the exhibition entitled ‘Republican Modernity in Valencia. Innovations and survival in figurative art (1928-1942)’. The exhibition revolved around the city of Valencia and the artistic proposals that were being developed in a chronological axis framed by the final chapter of the Dictatorship of Primo de Rivera, the advent of the Second Republic, the Civil War and the early Franco regime.

The Museo de la Diputación de Valencia proposed a review of Valencian art at a time of maximum artistic, cultural and political effervescence. The Copa España Libre, also popularly known by the Levantines as the Copa de la República, which was played to close the competitions held during the 1936-1937 season, coexisted with works such as the allegory of the Republic, commissioned by the town council of Sueca, paintings, sculptures and posters by Ricardo Boix, the constructivism of Renau, the expressionism of Amadeo Roca and the first bullfighting poster with the Republican flag. The trophy was one of the 280 pieces collected.
