The Copa España Libre returned to Barcelona on Sunday 2 February 2020. The Trophy returned to the city where its legend began to take shape in July 1937. During the morning of that Sunday it was part of the Casa de València, located at 335 Còrsega Street.
The event was organised by the Penya Llevantinista Granotes Barcelona, with the collaboration of the Casa València and the Historical Heritage Department of Levante U.D. Emilio Nadal, head of the Historical Heritage Department of Levante U.D., José Luis García Nieves, journalist and writer, and Ernesto Calpe, whose father was part of the team that won the Cup in the Sarrià stadium on July 18th 1937, took part in the event.
Quico Catalán, president of Levante U.D., the board members, Juan José Alabau and Pablo Sáchez and Alberto Gil, director of communication, took part in the tribute to the Copa España Libre.
Levante F.C. and Valencia F.C. competed for the title in the Final played at the Campo de Sarrià, owned by Espanyol. It was the confrontation that marked the final outcome of the Copa España Libre. Nieto settled the match for the Levante side. Levante F.C. returned to Valencia with the title in their possession. It was a celebrated victory. The navy squad dominated the competition since its inception.
